The Muslim Coalition of Connecticut, along with an alliance of faith communities, interfaith and community organizations and labor unions, has joined together to organize a memorial service around the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attack on our nation. On September 11th 2011, a service with the theme “United in Peace, Healing with Hope” will be held at St. Joseph’s Cathedral on Farmington Avenue in Hartford. Please join us to hear this diverse community speak strongly of the need to live as an American family in peace, remembering and honoring all who were lost on September 11th 2001, and to chart a course of hope in our future. We have invited Governor Dannel Malloy as our guest of honor, and we will have four key speakers: on Unity, Peace, Healing and Hope. • FILM SCREENING AND FACULTY COMMENTARY of Constantine's Sword: A Film Addressing Challenges in Interfaith Relations and Their Implications for Public Policy

    Date: Tuesday, February 15, 2011 - 6:30 pm

Program: Constantine's Sword is a cinematic parallel to James Carroll's landmark book of the same name. Both the book and the film chronicle the often tragic history of Jewish-Christian relations over the past 2000 years. Constantine's Sword follows former priest James Carroll on a journey of remembrance and reckoning. Warning of what happens when military power and religious fervor are joined, this film from Oscar-nominated director Oren Jacoby asks: Is the fanaticism that threatens the world today fueled by our own deeply held beliefs? The film also relates the dangers of religious triumphalism to aspects of American foreign policy. The 95-minute film will be screened, and then a discussion will be led by Professors Kelton Cobb and Yehezkel Landau.

Location: Hartford Seminary, 77 Sherman Street, Hartford, CT
